Frustratingly, this ammo shortage is definitely having an effect on my ability to test several different loads through a gun in order to find one that shoots the best of the bunch.

Webb27 mars 2024 · Bottom line, the Ruger GP-100 is my favorite revolver, bar none, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for self-defense, handgun hunting (I myself have never hunted, but the .357 Magnum can indeed be used to take deer and wild boar), competition, and just plain range fun alike. I think you should get a 4" stainless for what you would like to do with it. 4" is a nice balance, size, weight, etc. I also recommend stainless because it is so much easier to maintain and keep looking new. Whichever you get, you will be pleased. Webb26 sep. 2012 · TriggerShims and Wolf Spring kits can be installed (GP/SP/Six Series) to help trigger/hammer performance. IIRC the 3 inch GP100 has an adjustable rear sight and the SP101 (2.25-3 inch) has fixed rear sight. IMO, I recommend buying a stainless model for whichever you choose. Hope this helps a bit.
Webb15 aug. 2024 · I’ve kept my gp100 loaded for almost 10 years in the safe. It has never needed any maintenance other than a little oil maybe once a year. The action still remains silky, crisp, and predictable. You can literally neglect this piece, and it will literally thank you for it. Seriously. Spit on it, and call it names, it likes it.
